Scotland’s only homegrown cryptocurrency is to be made available to buy and sell on the open market for the first time.
Scotcoin is joining the Probit Global international exchange later this year. Probit will also have the exclusive rights to trade the digital currency when it makes its public debut.
The Scotcoin Project CIC (community interest company) was launched in 2013 but was taken over by its present owners, David Low and Temple Melville, in 2016. As a CIC the Glasgow company has charitable and environmental goals which it hopes to fulfil through business success. Those include connecting companies that have issues of waste or over-supply with charities which can make use of those goods in exchange for Scotcoin.
