Ministry of Industry licenses 90 factories in June, with SAR 2 bln investments

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources licensed 90 new factories in June, with investments of SAR 2 billion.

These licenses included five activities, led by manufacturing of other non-metallic metals with 18 licenses, food production with 14 licenses, manufacturing formed metal products with 12 licenses, while rubber and plastics products were granted nine licenses and chemical products got seven others.

Small enterprises accounted for most of the new industrial licenses in June at 83.33%, followed by medium enterprises at 14.44% and microenterprises at 2.22%, the ministry said.

In terms of investment type, national factories topped at 87.78%, followed by foreign enterprises and joint investment at 6.67% and 5.56%, respectively.

Total industrial licenses issued by the ministry since the beginning of this year amounted to 501, while the number of existing factories reached 10,675, with an investment volume of SAR 1.361 trillion, according to a report issued by the National Industry Information Center (NIIC).
